Hull Truck Apprentice Blog #2

25-Jan-2016 | Sam Hardy - Apprentice Blog

Last week started out with us welcoming the cast of our upcoming show, Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis, as they arrived in good old Hull to start on their rehearsals, preparing for our opening night on the 11th February. After introductions were given and biscuits were eaten, we were invited to sit in during the first read-through of the play, as shown in the photo above. Neither of us had ever experienced anything like that before, so it was quite exciting! We could tell you what went down in the read-through… but we’d much rather you bought tickets for the show and came to find out for yourself. We’ve even got some Elvis fancy dress props on the way to be displayed in the foyer, which you can try on and take some selfies with to win yourself a prize.

As well as working at Hull Truck, to complete our apprenticeship we also have to attend several college days a month, where we work towards gaining our qualifications with the Hull Training team and their other creative apprentices. Whilst we were at Craven Park Training Centre last week, we spent most of our time working on little projects like our first case studies and personal SWOT analyses, which we can add to our online portfolio. Draya also started a video diary, complete with green screen and iron throne.

Now blogging time is done for another week, Draya’s off back to the Box Office to sell some tickets, and Sam’s returning to her intense Elvis research. See you all next Monday!
