Snake And The Boys

The Snake Davis Trio

  • With Johnny Thirkell and Mark Creswell

Snake teams up with long time cohort and best buddy Johnny Thirkell and their mutual friend guitarist Mark Creswell to create gorgeous mellow music infused with jazz soul and pop.

Snake Davis is one of the most in-demand rock jazz and soul sax players in the world, widely known for his solos on tracks such as Lisa Stansfield's “Change”, M-Peoples “Search For A Hero” and “Moving On Up” and Take That's “A Million Love Songs”. He has played and recorded with artists ranging from James Brown to Tina Turner to Paul McCartney, The Eurhythmics to Amy Winehouse.

Johnny Thirkell is one of Britain's top trumpet and flugelhorn players. After leaving the BBC Radio Big Band in the 1980s he toured with the Gil Evans Orchestra and the Buddy Rich Band before settling in London to work as a studio player. He has played on literally hundreds of pop, rock, and jazz recordings and has also appeared on 36 No.1 records. He was on at least one album in the UK charts continuously, without a break, for over 13 years and in 2015 he appeared on Bruno Mars' 'Uptown Funk'. Johnny was the first person to be inducted into the Musician’s Union “Hall of Fame”. Credits include Level 42, George Michael, Jamiroquai, Grace Jones, UB40, Cher, Tina Turner, Pet Shop Boys, Swing Out Sister and Lisa Stansfield. In 2023 he scored his 36th No.1 record playing on Shania Twain's 'Queen of Me' album.

Mark Creswell is a virtuoso, exquisitely sensitive guitarist who also studied at Leeds College of Music with Snake and Johnny. Mark co-wrote, recorded, produced and worked extensively with Tanita Tikaram. He also recorded and played with Mark Knopfler, Nick Lowe, Ray Davies, Billy Bragg, amongst others, and has toured and appeared with Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Nancy Griffiths, Gerry Rafferty, Los Lobos, Robert Plant and Elvis Costello over the years. He has consistently played with Snake throughout his career.

Expect beautiful music, fascinating tales, banter and opportunity for question and answer and challenges.
