James Hudson: Homecoming Album Launch

Returning to Hull Truck Theatre is the outstanding vocalist James Hudson, a rising star in UK jazz who was born and bred in East Yorkshire.

He has performed to sold-out audiences at the world famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Manchester Cathedral, London Jazz Festival and many of the most respected venues both in the UK and abroad. Growing up in the East Riding, James first started singing at NAPA and Northern Theatre Company in Hull which ignited his passion for jazz and big band music.

For this very special show, James will be launching his bold and ambitious new album MOONRAY. This will showcase his impressive 13-piece band, composed of some of the very best musicians in the country - including both a string section and horn section to create a unique line-up with an accomplished and mesmerising sound. You’ll hear reimaginings of favourites such as ‘Feed The Birds’ (Mary Poppins) and ‘Sunny’ (Boney M) as well as many other jazz classics from The Great American Songbook.

This follows his critically acclaimed debut album TOMORROW which attracted international media coverage and exceptional reviews (BBC Music Magazine, Jazzwise, JazzViews), plus air-time across national radio stations, where it was named 'Album of the Week' by Jazz FM.
