Take part in behind-the-scenes Technical Youth Theatre programme!
01 Dec 2025 | General News
Hull Truck Theatre is inviting young people to step behind the curtain and discover what really goes into making a production happen, with the launch of its brand-new Technical Youth Theatre programme. Aimed at students in school years 10–13, the weekly sessions offer a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the specialist backstage skills that bring theatre to life, including lighting and sound to costume, props, stage management and set design. Running on Tuesday evenings, 6pm–8pm, from 13 January, each session focuses on a different technical discipline. The programme culminates in a chance for participants to support a Youth Theatre production in Hull Truck’s Godber Studio in March, providing valuable real-world experience in a professional environment. See the e-flyer below for a full schedule. Sessions will be delivered by members of Hull Truck Theatre’s highly experienced production team. The programme is open to all levels, with no previous experience required, just curiosity and a willingness to learn. It’s also a fantastic way to meet new people and explore whether a future in technical theatre might be right for you. Places are extremely limited, with only 12 spaces available, and demand is expected to be high. Young people are encouraged to express their interest by completing the form below. While we may not be able to offer a place to everyone this time, we hope to run the project again in the future. Please only express your interest if you are able to attend every session.
