Success for the Mike Bradwell New Work Fund
21 Aug 2025 | General News
Hull Truck Theatre are thrilled to announce that the Mike Bradwell New Work Fund has raised a remarkable £19,442 in 2025. This total is fulfilled by a £15,000 leading grant from the Foyle Foundation, alongside £4,442 contributed by generous members of the public. Our aim is to create a future body of work that is fearless, unashamedly real, and rooted and relevant to the communities it serves - values first championed by our founder, Mike Bradwell, when he launched the company in 1971. The new work fund, established in his memory, honours that legacy by investing in bold voices and fresh perspectives on our stage. This funding milestone reflects a shared belief in the power of new writing to inspire, provoke, and connect. Mark Babych, Artistic Director at Hull Truck Theatre, said: “We are delighted by the outpouring of support in memory of Mike Bradwell. Every gift has safeguarded new writing as a central part of Hull Truck Theatre’s creative output. We look forward to sharing locally grown plays with our audiences in the future.” With this newly secured funding, Hull Truck Theatre is poised to spotlight regional, emerging, and under-represented writers whose stories deserve to be heard. The Mike Bradwell New Work Fund ensures that theatre remains alive, daring, and deeply human.
