Taking place on our first floor, representatives attended from Rollits, For Entrepreneurs Only, PDR Construction, Humberside Airport, Alessandro Caruso Architecture and Unite the Union, as well as Natasha Barley, Director of our partner organisation, Hull Children’s University.
Whilst they were here, we took the opportunity to chat to them about their businesses and why they chose to become a Spotlight Partner. In this interview we speak to Jan Brumby, Chief Executive at For Entrepreneurs Only (FEO).
Hi, Jan. First off, can you tell us a bit about the organisation?
FEO is a Community Interest Company of over 170 of the area’s entrepreneurs. We’re a bunch of likeminded business leaders who collectively turn over £3.3 billion each year, employing over 22,000 people and representing successful local businesses of all sectors and sizes.
We’re dedicated to creating jobs and growing wealth in the region, and we’re specifically interested in the legacy of Hull UK City of Culture 2017. Our members regularly attend press nights at Hull Truck Theatre, which have recently included The Hypocrite, The Suitcase, Richard III and The Culture, combining a social occasion with an opportunity to support our local producing house.
Entrepreneurs are very busy people and sometimes find it hard to wind down, so a night at the theatre is the perfect escape from day-to-day life, or even a chance to network.
Why did FEO decide to become a Spotlight Partner?
FEO is passionate about fuelling the cultural economy, which will lead to the creation of new jobs. Our city needs a high standard of actors, technicians, writers and directors, and we’re confident that Hull Truck Theatre is the place where positive change happens.
As a Spotlight Partner, we receive the peace of mind that our investment not only helps people to express themselves and develop new talents, but also enables additional jobs in the arts sector for this year and beyond.
We support Butterflies Memory Loss Support Group too, so we donate some of our Spotlight Partner tickets to the charity. This allows people with dementia and their families to enjoy a night at the theatre, which they may otherwise not get to experience.
