Hull Truck Theatre secures funding from The Theatres Trust

11 Jul 2021 | General News

In response to the coronavirus crisis, Theatres Trust has repurposed their small grants schemes to support theatres in covering the additional costs of reopening after several months’ closure.

Hull Truck Theatre are one of the not-for-profit theatres across the UK lucky enough to receive this funding to make Covid-19-related adaptations and prepare for reopening.

"We're lucky to have an environmentally friendly ventilation system that uses roof windows to draw fresh air into the auditorium. Full automatic opening will make sure there is a continuous air flow to keep our audience comfortable and safe, making sure customers can return with confidence.

This is one of the key improvements and adaptations we've made so that we can open viably and safely to welcome people back. It's been an incredibly difficult time for theatre, and we are grateful to the Theatres Trust for supporting the additional costs of reopening after more than a year of closure."

Janthi Mills-Ward, Executive Director - Hull Truck Theatre

"We are beginning to look forward to a time when theatres can reopen, welcome audiences back inside and continue to play a vital role in their communities. Following a difficult year, Theatres Trust is delighted to be able to support the Hull Truck Theatre, a hugely respected producing theatre, with its plans for a safe reopening."
