17 Dec 2025 | General News
Hull Truck Theatre is teaming up with Tales and Scales Productions to host a new Disabled Artist Networking Event and Open Mic Showcase, offering local artists an opportunity to connect, share work, and perform in a welcoming and accessible environment. The free event will take place on Monday 23 February 2026, starting at 6pm, at Hull Truck Theatre. It is particularly aimed at artists who identify as deaf, disabled and/or neurodiverse, though all are welcome to attend. The evening will begin with networking from 6–7pm, followed by an Open Mic and programmed performances from 7–7:45pm, before the event concludes at 8pm. The showcase is designed to help artists build connections and celebrate local creative talent. Hull Truck Theatre is collaborating with local artist Emily Oetegenn, founder of Tales and Scales Productions, to deliver the event. As well as networking, the evening provides a platform for artists to perform work across a range of art forms in a safe, supportive setting. Artists interested in performing are invited to apply by completing a registration form. Applicants are asked to book a ticket and provide brief details about their proposed performance, including the art form and theme. The deadline to apply is Mon 5 January. Performers will be shortlisted this week, with responses sent out during the week commencing 12 January. Audience members wishing to attend must also book in advance. All attendees and performers are encouraged to share any access requirements at the time of booking to ensure the event is fully inclusive. More information and booking details are available via Hull Truck Theatre’s website, with performer applications submitted separately through an online form by CLICKING HERE.
