Hull Truck Theatre is delighted to announce that its 2025 Give the Gift of Theatre campaign has raised an incredible £11,958, thanks to the generosity of supporters across the region. This annual campaign helps share the magic of live theatre with children, families, and community groups who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend. Over 2,000 tickets will be supported by the money raised in 2025, enabling children to attend Hull Truck Theatre productions such as Oliver Twist, The Little Mermaid, Macbeth and more. During the Christmas period, 1 in 5 children attending performances using supported tickets experienced the theatre for the first time. One pupil from Bude Park Primary School captured the impact perfectly, saying: "I was happy being at the theatre with my friends celebrating Christmas." The Year 6 teacher for Woodland Academy passed on their gratitude, saying: “Thank you again for our wonderful tickets to see Oliver. For some children this was the first time that they have been to a theatre. It was lovely to see the magic in their eyes as the performance commenced. A few of them had seen the film Oliver and were able to relate the production to the film. Unfortunately, for some children, that will be the only time they get to visit a theatre so giving them this experience, was a Christmas gift early.” As part of this year’s campaign, community organisations across Hull took part in festive and ocean-themed arts and crafts sessions. 12 local schools received exclusive Oliver Twist themed workshops, and 60 care homes across the city were gifted access to stream the Christmas production, ensuring residents could experience the joy of live performance from the comfort of their homes. The success of Give the Gift of Theatre reflects the community’s commitment to creating meaningful cultural experiences for those who need them most. Every donation plays a vital role in sparking imagination, building confidence, and fostering connection through the transformative power of theatre. Hull Truck Theatre extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this year’s campaign.
