Creativity inspired by Hull

09 Mar 2022 | General News

We are working with community groups including Hessle Road Network, Route One youth centre and the Goodwin Veteran’s Hub, to explore how people use Hull as inspiration for the art they create.

Singing and storytelling workshops will see participants work with local writer Maureen Lennon and musician Paul Sargeson to understand how music and writing work together and how both can be utilised in theatre, with both underscoring and songs. Participants use songs featured in 71 Coltman Street to see how different styles and genres can change the meaning on the words, before working together to create their own pieces of music for theatre.

Other group members are learning new textile skills in workshops with local award-winning artist Erin Ledsom. They are practicing skills such as embroidery, quilting and punch needling on a tote bag designed by Erin to celebrate the arts in Hull and Hull Truck Theatre’s part in that.
