Christmas has come early, announcing the Cast and Creative Teams for Peter Pan and How To Fly Like A Reindeer

“It’s exciting to bring together all of these talented artists, both on stage and off, to create festive experiences for families with children of all ages. Christmas is often the first time that young people visit the theatre and we are committed to making it a special adventure for all involved.” - Mark Babych, Artistic Director

Peter Pan will be flying into The Heron from Friday 29th November and we are thrilled to announce the cast and creative team. This year’s awe-inspiring family adventure is recommended for ages 5+ and is proudly sponsored by Hull Trains.

This new production of this classic tale by J.M. Barrie reunites the creative team that brought last year’s critically acclaimed production of Oliver Twist to life. Deborah McAndrew will again adapt the story with direction from Mark Babych. Baker Mukasa will play Peter, opposite Vanessa Schofield as Wendy – the rest of the immensely talented ensemble will be playing dual roles, changing when they’re in Neverland.

Completing the cast are 16 young people, aged 11 - 18 who make up the young company, playing the part of the lost boys and pirates. They are a mix of Hull Truck Youth Theatre and Northern Academy of Performing Arts students. Jacob Butler, who is playing Michael / Smee is proud alumni of NAPA.

How To Fly Like A Reindeer is an entirely new show, created by Hull Truck Theatre in partnership with The Herd and will be in the Studio from Friday 13th December with their incredibly versatile cast. A Christmas spectacle for 2-5-year olds and their families, told with original music, digital animation and projections. The show is specially designed for young theatregoers and their first experiences in a theatrical environment.

Nina desperately wants to fly. To taste the clouds. To race a reindeer. To visit her Grandma at Christmas. Because Christmas time is Grandma time, but Nina’s just moved house and this year they’re 900 miles apart. Laura Lindsay plays Nina in her debut performance with Hull Truck Theatre and The Herd, she will be joined by Finlay McGuigan who little ones may recognise from our own Great Adventures In Storyland and The Herd’s recent show Slime .

All showings of How To Fly Like A Reindeer will be Relaxed Performances, this means they are specifically designed to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed environment and include additional lighting, gentler sound effects and a friendly attitude to noise and movement in the auditorium. Relaxed Performances are one of the many ways that we attempt to make theatre more accessible to audiences – to see our full list of upcoming access performances for this season click here: https://www.hulltruck.co.uk/access/general-access-information/

We are chuffed to be back at Hull Truck this Christmas after an amazing time in 2018. This year we’re bringing a brand new story about grandmas, balloons, superman, reindeers, catapults, scooters, snowflakes and the joy of Christmas. We think this one’s as much for the grown ups as it is for the very young and we’re excited to share it with our hometown of Hull this festive season.”

Sam Caseley of The Herd, Writer and Composer of How To Fly Like A Reindeer
