Big Give FAQ 2026

1.    What is this campaign? 
This is a match funded campaign to support young people receiving a creative education in Hull in our Local Youth Theatre. All proceeds will go towards one year of free drama workshops in two primary schools run by Hull Truck Theatre to make sure children across Hull have equal access to creative and educational activities.


2.    What does the money raised go towards?
Your support will go towards the cost of running Local Youth Theatre, our free drama workshops currently being run in Adelaide Primary School and St. Anthony’s VC Academy. These workshops need your support to make sure children can all take part, regardless of their financial background. 


3.    What is Local Youth Theatre?
After-school drama classes in primary schools comprising of 33 free workshops over one school year per school, culminating in a performance showcase on stage at Hull Truck Theatre. This is offered free of charge to two Hull primary schools in the cities most deprived areas to give children an opportunity to reach their potential and find their voice at an early age.


4.    When can I donate?
You can donate via the Big Give platform from Tue 17 Mar, 12pm until Tue 24 Mar, 12pm.


5.    What is the Big Give?
Big Give is a crowdfunding platform. Their primary focus is match funding, in which a charity will raise money through their website from members of the public and the Big Give works with large donors to double the amount raised. 


6.    What is Arts for Impact?

Arts for Impact is the annual arts-specific campaign run by Big Give. Arts-based charities are invited to raise money via their platform for the chance to double donations.


7.    What is match funding?
Match funded campaigns are a type of fundraising where the money raised by public giving is doubled by an organisation or person committed to the project and cause, multiplying donations to multiply impact. Our campaign is a 1:1 match funded campaign meaning every £1 donated is doubled to £2 by the Big Give.

8.    How can I donate?
Donation are taken through the Big Give website by searching Hull Truck Theatre. If you are happy to provide us with an email address, we can get in touch with the correct donation page website via email. Donations are a one-off payment, and everything donated before £1,125 is matched at no charge to you. 


9.    What payment methods are accepted? 
The Big Give take payments online via debit or credit card, paying by bank Apple Pay and Google Pay. BACS payments are accepted for donations over £500 through a UK donation funds account (biggive.org/donation-funds.)


10.    How much can I donate?
The minimum donation is £1 and there is no maximum donation. Donations are a one-off payment, and everything donated before £1,125 is doubled at no charge to the donor.


11.    Is my donation doubled after the target is met?
No, the only donations matched will be up to £1,125. However, the financial need for this project is greater than this amount, and all donations exceeding £1,125 will still contribute to running Local Youth Theatre.


12.    What is GiftAid?
Big Give donations are eligible for GiftAid, a scheme available to charaties with allows them to claim extra money from HMRC. Every £1 is claimable for 25p, meaning a donation of £4 plus GiftAid would equate to £5. UK taxpayers are eligible for GiftAid. 


13.    Is GiftAid match funded?
GiftAid is not matched.
