Award-winning actress Maxine Peake performs the iconic role of Pelagea Vlassova, a woman whose radical action to protect her son from imprisonment transforms her into the figurehead for a revolutionary movement.

BBC Radio Drama North in collaboration with musicians from the BBC PhilharmonicOrchestra conducted by HK Gruber, present Mark Ravenhill’s version of BertoltBrecht’s ‘The Mother’, a compelling drama with songs set in pre-revolutionary Russiawith an original score by Hanns Eisler and recorded live with an audience at TheUniversity of Hull’s Middleton Hall and broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
