PlayWrite

Now that Hull Truck's move to its brand-new, state-of-the-art theatre is complete, their eight-week writing programme PlayWrite, open to any and all budding playwrights, is ready and waiting for you!

Led for a limited time only by Hull Truck writing regular Dave Windass (Sully, On A Shout), PlayWrite is an eight-week course held on Tuesday nights (18-28 year olds) or Thursday nights (29+) in which new and experienced writers can learn and develop their writing skills.

In PlayWrite, participants discover what it is to be a playwright; looking at all aspects of writing for the stage such as character, plot, dialogue, structure, redrafting, adaptation, working with directors, and everything else in-between. Successful participants will be introduced to classic plays by accomplished playwrights and will be invited to watch a Hull Truck Theatre production free of charge.

Throughout the eight weeks, participants are encouraged to work towards writing a full length play. In the course of writing the plays the writers will be offered support and advice by the Literary Department here at Hull Truck. Ultimately, every participant will received detailed feedback.
