Find Your Voice: Hull Truck Theatre Company's brand new writing initiative for a brand new theatre.
The idea behind Find Your Voice is simple: we are looking for writers- of any experience- to showcase complete short plays or extracts of new works, which can then be tested on an audience. Up to five extracts/ pieces will be presented on any Find Your Voice evening, and we would encourage submissions from writers of any experience.
Each writer is welcome to provide their own ‘creative team', Hull Truck will put any first-time writers lacking in theatre contacts in touch with the actors or directors they might need. On the performance day itself, each piece would be given a 45-minute rehearsal in the Studio, with a member of the Hull Truck production staff and a technician present.
Interest in the first Find Your Voice night has been overwhelming, and we look forward to picking the cream of those scripts submitted to ensure the audience a thrilling and varied evening in our exciting new Studio space. Another Find Your Voice evening will be scheduled for the Autumn/Winter 2009/10 season, and deadlines for those scripts will be announced in due course.
