First Thursday Theatre Club - Playwriting: Tension in Storytelling
First Thursday Theatre Club is a monthly drama session for adults aged 18 and over. The session welcomes people of all ages and levels of experience, offering a chance to learn, discuss, and be creative together.
Each month’s content is completely different, and participants are encouraged to take part in whatever way feels comfortable - whether you're a confident performer, a complete beginner, or someone who simply wants to join the discussion or observe.
Join Hull Truck Theatre’s Associate Director, Tom Saunders, for a practical writing session focused on the art of building tension in storytelling.
Participants will explore how tension can be used to keep audiences on the edge of their seats, eager to discover what happens next. By harnessing tension effectively, stories can become more exciting, fast-paced, and - when disrupted cleverly - even humorous.
This session will include a mix of writing exercises and group discussion.
The session runs from 10.30am - 1.30pm.
