Arthur Hoyle has made an impulsive bet on the Wheatsheaf Arms - an amateur rugby league side with an impressive reputation!

 

Unbeknownst to his wife, he’s staked his house on them defeating the unbeatable and terrifying reigning champions - the Cobbler’s Arms. However, Arthur has a serious problem as the Wheatsheaf’s reputation is for losing!

 

Arthur’s got eight weeks to lick this beer-swilling, idle mob into lean-mean rugby killing machines. Can team spirit win the day? Or will the brute force of the Cobblers lose Arthur his home? It’s down to one woman and five men - all they need to do now is find the balls!

 

Hull Truck Theatre is delighted to welcome the return of John Godber’s classic Up ‘n’ Under, celebrating both the 25th Anniversary of this Olivier Award winning comedy and John’s first quarter of a century with Hull Truck Theatre!  Up ‘n’ Under was his first play for the Company, which he promised to write at his interview and was also the inspiration for the 1998 hit film written and directed by John.
