This play, which formed the basis for the much loved film, sees the ladies of Chinquapin, Louisiana congregating in Truvy's beauty salon. With the help of her eager new assistant, Anelle, warm-hearted, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town's resident curmudgeon Ouiser, eccentric millionaire Clairee, and the local social leader M'Lynn, whose daughter Shelby is about to get married. Then, tragedy strikes.
Sharp, witty and deeply moving, this play draws on the characters' underlying strength - and love - to make them truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad.
