Hull Truck Youth Theatre presents the premiere of SLAVERS

Slavers, is a powerful piece of theatre that has been specially commissioned for Hull Truck Youth Theatre as part of the Wilberforce 2007 celebrations. This ‘back-to-the-future story’ recreates the tale of the slave trade and its abolition through the eyes of young people. It is the longest run that the youth theatre has staged at the famous Hull Truck venue with its largest ever cast, numbering 20.

Past and present collide, as events from times gone by are put into a modern day context, when a group of Hull school kids are challenged to live the lifestyle of slave traders, but is it ethical? Find out what happens when some of them get into politics, while others start getting spiritual and kick-start a global campaign against this ‘vilest of trades’.

This cutting-edge production gives the young people of Hull the chance to examine what the slave trade meant 200 years ago and to discover the shocking truth about slavery today. Booking is now well underway for Slavers, and patrons are advised to buy their tickets early, to avoid disappointment.
