Hull Truck Theatre is delighted to present a new exhibition with plenty of character...

Tracy’s works bring us British seaside towns in a way we all love to visualise them – with their ramshackle charm greatly exaggerated and the occasional strange maritime object taking pride of place.

Tracy also treats us to good old-fashioned adverts for fruit markets, self-service petrol pumps and ice cream shops, as well as public notices such as ‘Beware of the Dog’, many in the most unlikely of places and all battered and gently eroded by the North Sea.

Tracy worked for several years in the print industry and then later in education. Since opening her studio and pottery to the public in 2005, Tracy’s paintings are proving to be a great success.

‘My paintings are concerned with subjects that intrigue me – from the design of landscape to story-like imagery; I like to create places for the onlooker to escape to – away from daily reality.’

‘In addition to my figurative works, I like to explore more abstracted themes. Using colour, mood and patina to create works that are less literal, inviting emotional response.’

‘The Art of Tracy Savage’ is free to view in the Hull Truck Exhibition Space on the Upper Foyer until 26 August. The limited edition box canvas prints are available to purchase through Hull Truck, and the artist is kindly donating some of the proceeds to our fundraising initiatives. Her works can also be viewed at www.tracysavage.co.uk
