Work Experience and Volunteering

Hull Truck Theatre is committed to offering opportunities for young people aged 14 and above, whether at school, college or university, who are interested in developing a career in the creative industries.

Placements offer a rounded insight into the administrative and backstage activities of the theatre, although emphasis can be placed on a specific area of interest.

Work Experience

We offer work experience placements through schools and colleges in association with Humberside Education Business Partnership for pupils aged 14 and over. Placements are across all departments of the theatre giving an introduction to the general operations both backstage and administratively. There are limited places and applicants are advised to apply at the start of the academic year. Download the application form here.

We also offer specialist placements for young people aged 16+ for those who wish to learn about a specific area such as technical theatre, marketing, stage management etc. These placements are at the discretion of each department manager and availability will depend upon our programme and working schedule. It is therefore subject to change each year. To register your interest in a specialist placement please contact Gemma Clark on gemma.clark@hulltruck.co.uk.

Please note: We do not give work experience placements in acting. If you are aged between 8 and 21 years and interested in acting please register for a place with our Youth Theatre.

Front of House Volunteers

Volunteers are an important part of the Front of House team, assisting our friendly staff in meeting and greeting patrons, checking tickets, showing patrons to their seats and enhancing the theatregoing experience.

If you have an interest in theatre, enjoy meeting the public, can spare a few hours each week and would like the opportunity to be involved in this exciting, vibrant atmosphere, please contact Front of House Manager Paul Bennett on 01482 323638 / paul.bennett@hulltruck.co.uk.
