Benchmarks. 2012
A Call For Performers, Actors & Writers
Park Bench Theatre presents Benchmarks: the first of a series of innovative, freshly-spun performances which seek to nurture, develop and build relationships with emerging artists and fresh local voices resulting in professional performances at Hull Truck and elsewhere during  2012.

In association with Hull Truck Theatre, award-winning local theatre company Park Bench are seeking new writing responding to a brief that will be developed and performed at Hull Truck Theatre in March 2012. We want writers and actors to build relationships with Park Bench for future projects. A collaborative, responsive, and explorative process will aim to fuse ideas from outside the creative space and off the page with innovative ideas inside the space.

Actors Auditions: February 3 & 4 2012
Actors will form a fruitful network of artists that we will draw upon for professional productions and events throughout the year. The first performance will be rehearsed in March 2012 and performed on 28th March at Hull Truck. This is a fantastic opportunity and platform for any young or established artists, graduates, emerging theatre makers to be part of something new in Yorkshire.

If you have commitments in March, please come and meet us anyway to join the network and inform us of your availability throughout the year.

Booking Slots: To sign up for auditions or join the mailing list send us a message at thebench@parkbenchpoets.co.uk with your CV and you will be contacted shortly with a confirmation

Writers Submissions: January 2012
We are looking for new voices from all over Yorkshire to submit work that will be curated and developed by Park Bench and yourself, and performed as part of the Benchmarks series at Hull Truck. Benchmarks is a regular series of work-in-progress evenings showcasing and developing emerging talent from the region.

Brief: Responding to the world today; disjointed community, change in a community and creating a new community. We are looking for writers to go beyond the page, respond and be inspired by their own community and to interpret that in whatever way they choose.

Park Bench will develop the work in conjunction with you, experimenting and bringing ideas off the page. This is a chance for you to create your benchmark and make your stamp, working with a peer company and utilising the resources of the region's leading producing theatre.

We also want to explore the relationship of a writer with a place and a space - responding to the live creativity around them. There is the possibility for partnership work between Park Bench and the emerging writers and theatre-makers, to form a collective, reaching out to communities in Yorkshire as part of the project's creative process and building potential relationships for future work.

The piece you submit can be unfinished at this stage. We are looking for potential in new voices, whether it is a play between 25-80 pages, a draft, a completed script or an unfinished concept or story idea. Send any submissions, questions or contact to thebench@parkbenchpoets.co.uk

Deadline for submissions 29 January 2012
Both writers and performers will receive a small fee inclusive of expenses as well as a platform for future work.
