In the first of four seasons marking our year as UK City of Culture, the city is throwing its doors wide open and inviting the world to the biggest celebration Hull has ever seen.
Across the city throughout January – March, we’ll celebrate what it means to be made in Hull. A city like no other, a city that is poetic and fiercely independent. A city full of stunning architecture and quietly beautiful waterfront locations. A city of surprises that will leave you wondering if that incredible, magical thing really did just happen (clue: yes, it did).
During Made in Hull, we’ll tell the inspiring stories of the city’s revolutionaries, the thinkers and innovators who broke the rules and made their mark on the world. As part of this season, we have partnered with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Hull UK City of Culture 2017 to present a show bigger in scale and ambition than anything we have ever produced before: The Hypocrite, a riotous comedy from award-winning playwright Richard Bean, inspired by the infamous moment when King Charles I was denied entry to Hull at Beverley Gate. There will be a cast of 18 actors – the largest to ever take to our stage – and a set including innovative stage trickery and illusions.
Join us here in Hull at the start of a year of game-changing arts and culture, featuring exciting world premieres, breathtaking installations, world-class exhibitions, live music and performances.
The remaining three seasons; Roots & Routes, Freedom and Tell the World will continue this legacy.
